    Surgical Services

   Day of Surgery
  • Inpatients are taken to the pre-op holding area about two hours before your scheduled surgery.
  • Outpatients should arrive at the hospital at their designated time. If you are running late or unable to make the appointment, please call the outpatient surgery department at (309) 345-4325 as soon as possible.
   The Surgical Suite

The operating room team includes surgeons, nurses, surgical technicians and anesthesia professionals. During your procedure, they watch over you and monitor your condition. Once in the surgical suite ...

  • We will offer you a warm blanket
  • A blood pressure cuff will be placed on your arm
  • EKG pads will be placed on your chest to monitor your heart
  • A soft, padded clip will be placed on your finger to measure your blood's oxygen level
  • We may administer oxygen through a mask or tube under the nose
  • You will be given medicine or anesthesia
   Family Information

Your loved ones will wait for you in the waiting area, located next to the patient preparation area. A volunteer is usually present in the waiting area to assist and they should be notified if a family member has to leave. We encourage family members to stay with you during your recovery in the outpatient area. It's difficult to pre-determine how long your surgery will take but they usually last for three to four hours, with an additional hour or two for surgical prep.

Dry needling is a treatment that involves a very thin needle being pushed through the skin to stimulate a trigger point within muscular tissues. Dry needling may release the tight muscle bands associated with trigger points and lead to decreased pain and improved function.
