Next to our patients, our patients' friends and family members are the most important people we know. Spending time with someone who cares during a hospital stay stimulates smiles and lifts spirits–on both sides of the hospital bed. That's why we encourage visitors to come see us, sit, and stay awhile; it's a healthy experience for everyone.
Visiting Hours
8 a.m. - 8 p.m., Daily
Medical and Surgical
- Visiting Hours: Open visiting
- 2 visitors per patient at one time.
- Children under 12 years of age may visit when accompanied by an adult.
Critical Care Unit and Intensive Care Unit
- Visitors are restricted to immediate family only.
- Two visitors per patient at one time after checking with the nurse.
- Children under 12 years of age may visit only when special arrangements have been made with the nurse in charge of the unit.
- Visitors shall be screened for infectious diseases before entering the patient's room.
Exceptions: On the day of surgery, two visitors are allowed to be with the patient in the Pre-Operative Holding Area. Children 12 years of age and older may visit when accompanied by an adult. State regulations prohibit visitors in the Recovery Room.
The nurse may request a visitor to be present at a time other than the stated times for health teaching purposes, for a family conference or to remain with a seriously ill patient. Please feel free to request exceptions with the patient’s nurse if you believe there is a need.

- You can have a maximum of two visitors at any one time.
- Children under the age of 12 may visit when accompanied by an adult.
- Wash your hands often while visiting our facility. It prevents the spread of germs that can cause infection.
- If you’ve got a fever, cold, or any infection symptoms, please stay home.
- Galesburg Cottage Hospital is a tobacco-free campus. No smoking is allowed anywhere on the grounds.
- Don’t bring patients food or candies unless your attending doctor gives permission.
