(Galesburg, IL) - Galesburg Cottage Hospital patients have voted for their favorite nurse. The GCH Patient Choice Award recognizes the quality care, comfort and compassion offered by one nurse in particular. Continuing the tradition of the last few years, this annual program solicits input from the community and culminates with one nurse at Galesburg Cottage Hospital receiving the Patient Choice Award during National Nurses Week.
Radha Chathadi, RN, of the Close Supervision Unit (CSU), was named favorite nurse of the year for 2010 for her nurturing care of the smallest patients at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
About the award, Galesburg Cottage Hospital Chief Executive Officer, Ken Hutchenrider said, "I think it really says a lot about Radha that she so impressed the mothers and fathers of our smallest patients that they wrote us to describe her great nursing care at their children’s bedside".
In addition to receiving a plaque, Radha was presented a bouquet of flowers, a cake to share with her department, a cash award and dinner with the Board of Directors of Galesburg Cottage Hospital during the board’s June meeting.
Radha received her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from St. Regis University in Denver, Colorado where she was inducted as a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. She is fluent in both Tamil and Hindi languages.
