(Galesburg, IL) – A longtime Kewanee resident and registered nurse was recently named director of perioperative services at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.

About her new appointment, Lynn Van Hyfte, RN, said, "I look forward to each day at Galesburg cottage hospital managing and coordinating patient surgical care to create the best possible outcomes with exceptional customer experiences."
According to Chief Nursing Officer, Irene Strejc, "Lynn is a welcome addition to our surgical services team and brings with her a breadth of patient focused nursing experience with 21 years working in the various nursing areas of Critical Care, Perioperative Services, Pain Management, as a Pain Resource Nurse, as well as six years as director of surgical services at Kewanee Hospital."

Lynn says she was inspired to become a nurse as a child and after serving as a unit secretary and working with nurses early on in her healthcare career she opted to pursue a nursing degree. "I worked with fine nurses as a unit secretary and knew nursing was for me. I have found it to be the most fulfilling career."

Lynn attended Illinois State University and is pursuing a Bachelor degree. She earned an associate degree in nursing, is certified as an Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support instructor and is a member of the Association of Operating Room Nurses and the American society of PeriAnesthesia Nurses. Lynn resides in Kewanee, with her husband Michael.
