(Galesburg, IL) – Galesburg Cottage Hospital's Chief Nursing Officer has been appointed to a national nursing leadership council to help advise GCH's sister hospitals. Irene Strejc, RN, BSN, MPHA, is one of 12 chief nursing officers from within the Community Health System's hospital family to be appointed to the council.
"I can think of no other appointment that would be more complimentary and significant than Irene's appointment to the Chief Nursing Officer Advisory Council where she'll have a voice in policy development, training and orientation, product selection and safety initiatives," said Ken Hutchenrider, Chief Executive Officer at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
About her appointment, Strejc said, "I look forward to this team leadership responsibility overseeing the delicate balance between clinical and quality assurance while continuing to do what I love most; working with nurses and physicians to assure competent and quality care at GCH."
Strejc joined Galesburg Cottage Hospital in 2007 having served as CNO of Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Medical Center in Fountain Valley, California. The Elgin, Illinois native earned her nursing diploma from Triton Community College, River Grove, Illinois and both her bachelor's degree in nursing and a master's degree in public health administration from Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois.
An avid Galesburg community supporter, Strejc serves on the YMCA of Knox County board of directors, is a member of Sunrise Rotary, Choral Dynamics and she serves as treasurer for the Galesburg Civic Arts Center board of directors.
