Visiting Hours
Visitors are welcome to visit patients during their hospital stay at Cottage. With the best interest of the patient's recovery and comfort in mind, we ask that all visitors observe the following guidelines:
Medical/Surgical/Skilled Nursing Patients
- Visiting Hours: Open visiting
- Number of Visitors: 2 visitors per patient at one time.
- Children as Visitors: Children under 12 years of age may visit when accompanied by an adult.
Obstetric Patients
- All visitors must check in at the Nurses' Station.
- Visiting Hours: 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Baby's father or support person is welcome at any time.
- Grandparents and siblings may visit immediately after delivery. Siblings must be accompanied by one adult at all times.
- Children as Visitors: No children under 12, except for siblings of the new baby.
- No visitors who currently have or have been exposed to a communicable disease in the past 21 days will be allowed on the obstetric unit.
- Visitors are not allowed to stand in the hall. When not in the patient's room, please wait in the family waiting room.
Special Care Units--CCU and ICU
- Visitors to Intensive Care and Critical Care Units are restricted to members of the immediate family.
- Number of Visitors: 2 visitors per patient at one time after checking with the nurse.
- Children as Visitors: Children under 12 years of age may visit only when special arrangements have been made with the nurse in charge of the unit.
- Visitors shall be screened for infectious diseases before entering the patient's room.
Exceptions
On the day of surgery, 2 visitors are allowed to be with the patient in the Pre-Operative Holding Area. Children 12 years of age and older may visit when accompanied by an adult. State regulations prohibit visitors in the Recovery Room.
The nurse may request a visitor to be present at other than the stated times for health teaching purposes, for a family conference, or to remain with a seriously ill patient. Please feel free to request exceptions with the nurse if you believe there is a need.
Cafeteria Service
Family members and visitors are welcome to use the hospital cafeteria during regular hours of operation. Meals are served at the following times:
- Continental Breakfast -- 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
- Lunch -- 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
- Dinner -- 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Other food service include snack items in the Gift Shop, and vending machines near the Emergency Department and outside the Cafeteria.
Gift Shop
The Cottage Hospital Gift Shop is located near the main lobby and is stocked with gift items, fresh flowers, candies, magazines and cards. The Gift Shop is a project of the Cottage Hospital Service Guild and is open every day, except during holidays, during the following hours:
- Monday through Friday - 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- Saturday - 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Sunday - 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
No Smoking Policy
Cottage Hospital is committed to promoting good health and to providing a smoke-free environment for our patients. Therefore, smoking is not permitted by any one inside the hospital. The purpose of this policy is to protect the health and safety of patients, employees and visitors
